Quarterly meeting of lay readers
The quarterly meeting of lay readers will be on Sunday, June 3rd at 10:30 (led by Gordy Hess) and 11:45 (led by Peter Buehler). Seasoned readers or new readers -- all are welcome. Sign-ups for July, August, and September will be done only at these meetings. If you have been thinking about becoming a reader, now is your chance to get involved in this ministry. Not only is this an opportunity to sign-up, but it will also be a time for the group to share in prayer, ideas, have a refresher course or orientation, and connect with others. Refreshments will be provided.

"WHY DOES the Torture Abuse Scandal Matter to Faith Communities?" This interfaith discussion led by The Rev. Dr. George Hunsinger, the founder of the National Religious Campaign Against Torture will be held on Saturday, May 19, from 9-11am in the Parish Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church ( 1500 State Street ) . Hunsinger is a Prebyterian minister and on the faculty of Princeton Theological Seminary. This discussion is open to all religious leaders and people of faith. Offered in the Christian Fellowship Center, the course will run four weeks on Wednesday evenings, June 6, 13, 20, & 27. Sign up now at the Activity Table . Let’s get involved! Our first local mission fair will be next Sunday morning, May 20. Explore and sign-up for a variety of congregational ministries and local missions.

THE PHOTO DIRECTORIES ARE HERE! The new photo directories are available following worship for those who had their portrait taken (and only those).John MacKenzie will have a table in the Fireside Lounge with a list! We will have extras that will be available later this month for those who wish to purchase a copy.

FAIRLY TRADED COFFEE is served at our Fellowship time (currently only Regular, not Decaf). Your donation helps defray the added cost of this coffee which we purchase to help the small coffee growers.

PRAYER REQUESTS: The Prayer Chain is available to pray for your needs. In the Narthex is a Prayer Box provided by the Congregational Care Ministry. Please fill out a request form and leave it in the box, or call Chuck at 687-0754, x 102. All prayer requests are kept confidential.

SAVE THE DATE for the First Presbyterian Church Retreat! Friday, September 27 & Saturday, September 28 at Rancho La Scherpa. The Retreat begins Friday night with a campfire program led by Mark Croshaw, singing and s’mores. Saturday will include a program by Dr. Gordon Hess and plenty of time for ropes course, crafts, swimming and games! We’ll end our time together Saturday with worship. Cost will be $25 - $95 per person, lots of options! We’ll have details coming up on how you can earn a free night at the Retreat (your cost would be $25).
