PresbyFolks Planning Team Elects Dave Ardell as New Chairman
At the PresbyFolks leadership team meeting on May 31, Dave Ardell was elected to serve as the next chairman. Fred Marsh had served in that capacity since the formation of the group in the spring of 2006. Congratulations to Dave and grateful thanks to Fred. Once again, Sue Croshaw led a group of PresbyKids in creating a beautiful chalk painting on the parking lot at the front of the Santa Barbara Mission. Thank you, Sue and your team, for representing our church so well!

Quarterly meeting of lay readers: Sunday, June 3rd at 10:30 (led
by Gordy Hess) and 11:45 (led by Peter Buehler)

Seasoned readers or new readers -- all are welcome. Sign-ups for July, August, and September will be done only at these meetings. If you have been thinking about becoming a reader, now is your chance to get involved in this ministry. Not only is this an opportunity to sign-up, but it will also be a time for the group
to share in prayer, ideas, have a refresher course or orientation, and connect with others. Refreshments will be provided.

COMING SOON TO A CHURCH NEAR YOU (YOUR CHURCH) – a four session course on discipleship, “Following Jesus,” taught by Drs. Gordy Hess, Lyle Hillegas, and Bob Ohman. Offered in the Christian Fellowship Center, the course will run four weeks on Wednesday evenings, June 6, 13, 20, & 27. Sign up now at the Activity Table . SAVE THE DATE for the First Presbyterian Church Retreat:
Friday, September 28 & Saturday, September 29
at Rancho La Scherpa.
The Retreat begins Friday night with a campfire program led by Mark Croshaw, singing and s’mores. Saturday will include a program by Dr. Gordon Hess and plenty of time for ropes course, crafts, swimming and games! We’ll end our time together Saturday with worship. Cost will be $25 - $95 per person, with lots of options! We’ll have details coming up on how you can earn a free night at the Retreat (your cost would be $25).

THE FLOWERS in front of the pulpit this morning are dedicated by Donald Williams and family in memory of Mary Lu Williams. THE FLOWERS in front of the lectern are dedicated by Doug and Carol DuCharme in memory of their parents. Following worship the Deacons will take the flowers to those who are ill or homebound.
THE ROSES ON THE CHANCEL this morning are in celebration of the births of two new members of our congregation. Jacob Lee Martinich, son of Chris and Michelle, brother of Madison, was born Friday, May 18. Taylor Elizabeth Walstad, daughter of Win and Stephanie, sister of Palmer, was born Saturday, May 26. Congratulations!
THE LOOSE OFFERING THIS MORNING will go to the Deacon’s Fund to aid in their ministry of caring.

ADULT EDUCATION FOR JUNE 10 and 17: Join Meryle Gaston and Kati Buehler for a film and discussion using guides developed by Rev. Edward McNulty, film reviewer for PRESBYTERIANS TODAY and author of books exploring the relationship of films and faith. 9 a.m.
IT’S COMING!  Drs. Gordy Hess, Lyle Hillegas, and Bob Ohman will be teaching the discipleship course, “Following Jesus,” the four Wednesdays in June (June 6, 13, 20, & 27).  Sign up now for the class and for the optional dinner which starts each evening. THANK YOU TO ALL who have so generously given to the piano fund, those who have given in memory of Bill Whitehouse, and others.  We have reached our goal of $5700 which will cover the entire repair. Look for the piano to be missing in July while it is worked on!!
