Jottings from Judith Some of you have asked about my recent study leave and vacation, and I would like to share some highlights with you here. Dave and I participated in the Whitworth Institute of Ministry in Spokane, WA, from July 9-13. The featured speakers were Eugene Peterson (The Message), Roberta Hestenes (minister-at-large, World Vision), and Eugene Palmer (UPC Seattle). The sessions and lectures were most informative and inspiring. After the Institute, we were able to visit Sharon McBean and help her celebrate a significant birthday. Sharon is doing very well and spending lots of quality time with one of her daughters and her granddaughter. She was a gracious host and led us on a delightful tour of her beautiful surroundings on Fidalgo Island. We also took a ferry to San Juan Island and were able to see Orcas offshore from Lime Kiln Lighthouse. Some of you may remember Sharman and Tom Badgett-Young, who were active members of our church until they moved to the Seattle area about 12 years ago. We were also able to spend a couple of days with them, including a ferry ride and a drive the length of Whidbey Island. We also visited some of Dave's relatives in Portland. Great times! |
