First Pres Staff Gets Automated External Defibrillator Training
On Wednesday, Nov. 7, several staff and other volunteers received training in CPR and the use of the church's new Automated External Defibrillator. While we hope never to have to use our training, we want to be ready if an emergency arises. The people receiving training include Pastors Peter Buehler and Judith Muller, Susan Croshaw, Alice Williams, Michael Frazer, Wayne Heisinger, Dave McEachen, and Bruce Williams. As defined in Wikipedia, an Automated External Defibrillator or AED is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient, and is able to treat them by application of electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm. You'll be hearing more about this in the future. The training was provided by Mike Myers, of the Emergency Responders Network, the American Red Cross, and the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.

Packaged coffee is available for purchase on the patio.
