PresbyFolks Visits Melville Winery
In a repeat of our previous very successful trip to the Melville Winery, the PresbyFolks enjoyed a fascinating tour and tasting opportunity. Each month the PresbyFolks has an activity aimed at developing our Christian community and our appreciation for the treasures of the Santa Barbara area.  The Presbyterian Peacemaking Program
    The Presbyterian Peacemaking Program has announced  details on the annual Peacemaking Conference. In 2008 it will convene for the week of July15-19 at Chapman University in Orange, California. Its theme will be "Sowing Mustard Seeds: Working for God's Justice--Confronting Poverty." Following the parable of the mustard seed, means consisting of small acts will be explored to remedy the conditions of the impoverished.
    Outstanding Kenote Presenters will be Anuradha Mittal, Execurtive Director of the Oakland Institute, Roberto Jordan of the Reformed Churches in Argentina, and Lisa Schirick, Program Director, 3D Security Initiative and Professor of Peacebuilding, Eastern Mennonite University. Conference leaders will be Mark Lomax, a theological reflector, Cindy Edwards, a community builder, Patrick Evans, a music leader, and Dianna Wright,  the workshop coordinator. Participants come to California from all over the United States, often assisted in their costs by their member churches. The event has been programed as being intergenerational.Costs are kept at a minimum. Futher details may be obtained at www.pcusa.org/peacemaking/conferences/2008.htm

LIFE OF THE CHURCH

ONE BOUQUET this morning is dedicated by Dick Freeman in memory of Ruth E. Freeman. ANOTHER BOUQUET this morning is dedicated by a church member in honor of our choir. Following the service the Deacons will take the flowers to those who are ill or homebound and unable to attend worship with us.

SUNDAY MORNING ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES at 9 a.m. in Anderson Lounge on March 16: Esther Bennett will lead a Lenten series on “The Bible and Handel's Messiah: the Easter portions.” No class March 23, Easter Sunday.

“ODD MONTH ED.” – “Getting Ready for Easter” with Dr. Gordon Hess. Join us in Anderson Lounge at 10:30 a.m. on March 16. No class on Easter Sunday, March 23.

INVITE YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS! On Sunday, March 30 we will have a dinner and fabulous entertainment. Experience the beauty and drama of Thai classical art. Rob Collins and Esther Wakeman will bring a troupe to perform Thai Folk Drama and Traditional Dance. The Dinner at 5:30 p.m. is only $9.00 per person. Call 687-0754 for reservations. The FREE program begins at 6:30. Join us in the Christian Fellowship Center.

THE FLOWER CROSS – Our “Old Rugged Cross” will be on the patio next Sunday, Easter, for us to decorate with flowers we have brought from home. Bring one flower or more and help create a beautiful representation of our new life in Jesus Christ.

WANTED: BRAVE MEN! 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. every Tuesday morning in Anderson Lounge join us for the Men’s Bible Breakfast. Feast on the Word of God, coffee and sweet rolls. Great fellowship and discussion.

ANSWER TO PRAYER - Jim Witty's doctors have given him the OK to go to Africa March 17-24. He has recovered sufficiently from an Epstein-Barr viral attack, and he can rejoin the mission at Gulu, Uganda. He is grateful for all of our prayers. Please keep praying.

EASTER LILIES! Today is the deadline to order Easter Lilies to decorate the Sanctuary and the Christian Fellowship Center for Easter. The plants are available for only $7.00 each. You may take the plant home after worship on Easter Sunday or donate it to the Deacons. Place your order form with payment in the offering plate or in the Easter Lily box on the patio today.

SILENT AUCTION – Look for the auction table on the patio for the next couple of Sundays. Items from the Youth Fundraiser are still available for your bids. This is your chance to help raise money for the Youth Mission Trip. Bid generously!

THE PRAYER CHAIN is available to pray for your needs. In the Narthex and Fireside Lounge are Prayer Boxes provided by the Congregational Care Ministry. Please fill out a request form and leave it in the box, email Chuck at: ccurtis@fpcsb.org or call 687-0754, x 102. All prayer requests are kept confidential.
