Presbyterian Women Hold A Craft Fair and Luncheon
On Saturday, May 3rd, the Presbyterian Women held a craft fair and enjoyed a delicious luncheon. Entertainment was provided by the Dixie Daddies, who were joined by their new female vocalist, our own Juleine! Tentative plans are to have her join the group for some of their performances. She is a fine addition to this group that keeps alive the music of an earlier time. Many crafts were displayed and enjoyed by the guests of the luncheon. Another successful event!

WHOLE LIFE SEMINARS
AT WESTMONT

"Flying Information"
How we learn to read codes, patterns, signs,
and symbols and navigate webs of meaning

June 2-6, 2008
Tuition: $300 per person

Liberal arts education fosters a life-long passion for learning. Whole Life Seminars offer our local community the chance to pursue that passion. These week-long interdisciplinary summer seminars consider the arts, sciences, and current events through multiple lenses to provide a true liberal arts approach to the subject. Join us this summer for "Flying Information" where English professor Marilyn McEntrye and Computer Science professor Wayne Iba will consider how we gather, store, process, share, interpret (and misinterpret), apply, and impart information.

Our hope is that at the end of five days we might approach anything we notice or experience with a new set of lenses, that we might have developed a deeper sense of what it means to read signs and signals and words and images, and that we might see how heightening our awareness of our own processes may serve to make us both more curious, more lively, and more compassionate inhabitants of a world that is still "so vast, so beautiful, and so new
." ~Marilyn McEntrye and Wayne Iba

THE FLOWERS this morning are dedicated by Dan Cross in loving memory of his wife, Nancy. Following worship the Deacons will take the flowers to those who are ill or homebound.

ADULT EDUCATION SUNDAYS IN MAY at 9:00 in Anderson Lounge - “Out of Iona: Seeking God the Celtic Way” led by our own Noni Patchell. And at 10:30 “Odd Month Ed.” returns with Dr. Bob Wennberg and “Honesty in the House of God – The Big Problems”.

KATHY BAXTER THANKFUL FOR PRAYERS - Kathy’s May newsletter from London speaks of the recent burden of caring for her missionaries. “It seems there have been more “heavy” issues arising in the past few months than usual. While it has been draining for me, it has been a comfort knowing that I have supporters who pray for me regularly, as I have needed my own “cup” refilled while pouring out to fill others.”

THE PRAYER CHAIN is available to pray for your needs. In the Narthex and Fireside Lounge are Prayer Boxes provided by the Congregational Care Ministry. Please fill out a request form and leave it in the box, email Chuck at: ccurtis@fpcsb.org or call 687-0754 x102. All prayer requests are kept confidential.
