Another bouquet is dedicated by Fay Westbury in loving memory of her husband, Paul whose birthday would have been this past week. Following worship the Deacons will take the flowers to those who are ill or homebound.

TARRY NELSON WRITES FROM AFRICA. Our missionary in Liberia recently emailed this message about his daughter: “Jenny's wedding to Chris on June 28th in Santa Rosa, CA was the wedding of the year. Jenny was the most beautiful bride ever! God blessed us by allowing Charmaine and me to return from Liberia, Africa for the wedding.”

CHURCH HISTORY BRIEFS by Virginia Chennell - In the late 1930’s, our Couples Clubs followed the format set forth by the National Mariners. As the groups grew in their monthly programs of fellowship and church service, they divided by age into Voyagers, then Clippers, Cruisers and finally Navigators, each having ships and fleets. Some remember Ward Chennell giving his Treasurer’s Report by ”strip-tease” as he uncovered it written on the cast of his broken knee. One memorable fleet meeting saw Jacques LeBourne, gourmet chef at the Biltmore, serving a scrumptious stew in used coffee cans. After many good times together, the couples hated to leave their friends to graduate into the next older group. We now have Clippers - Pairs and Spares plus a new group called PresbyFolks.

Monthly Financial Report

Our church is dependent upon our pledges and donations to do God’s work in our congregation, community and the world. As has been reported in recent Congregational meetings and in the annual report, our expenses have exceeded our income for the past several years. The following report will be provided monthly to assure that members of the congregation are aware of the need for additional operating income in the near future. In the meantime, shortfalls in income from donations and other sources will be covered by the use of reserve funds which have been built up over previous years.

Church Operating Fund*, Jan. 1 through June 30, 2008

        Income: $  408,645
        Expenses:       $  586,887
        Difference:     $( 178,242)
