ADULT EDUCATION Sunday, August 3, 10, 17, and 24 at 9 a.m. - “Jubilee! Luke’s Gospel for the Poor”: a Bible study by Dale Lindsay Morgan. Noni Patchell will introduce lessons from this talented speaker, writer, and teacher’s latest Bible study. The study highlights Jesus’ message of Jubilee “…he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor … to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free…” (Luke 4:18). Come learn about “the ways that Christ’s jubilee message turned the world upside down, exalting the poor and including outsiders, bringing the love of God to all.”

BETTY RUPP’S MISSION IS ACROSS TOWN. Betty and her friend Liz Taylor (a different one) serve every Tuesday morning at the Senior Living Concepts care facility, which is off La Cumbre Road. They go room to room greeting residents and, when appropriate, singing hymns, praying, and talking about life with Christ. Ask Betty for details!

CHURCH HISTORY BRIEFS by Junie Merrill - When the Rev. Robert Pryor was hired as Senior Pastor in 1981, members of the Pastor Nominating Committee all wore buttons on their lapels stating: I HAVE A PRYOR COMMITMENT. The Committee all went to the airport to welcome Bob and Mary Lou and their 10th grade twins. Bruce O’Neal, chair of the PNC, graciously invited the twins to ride to their new home in his classy little 1956 Thunderbird convertible. What a welcome to their new city!
