It was initiated by the late Anabel Miller in 2003.

HISTORY BRIEFS by George Goodall . - The Celtic Cross that we think of during Lent, the cross most familiar to Presbyterians, it comes to us from the island of Iona off the west coast of Scotland. This remote community of believers escaped persecution and used stone Celtic Crosses outside their chapels. This small island can only be reached by ferry, has few roads or utilities, and is beaten by the winds and weather. The most copied, drawn, photographed, and reproduced cross is the High Celtic Cross of St. John that stands outside the shrine and burial place of St. Columba, the sixth century monk that brought Christianity to Scotland and Ireland. It is in the Iona Abbey that the basic precepts of Presbyterianism survived in the Middle Ages .

THE PRAYER CHAIN is available to pray for your needs. In the Narthex and Fireside Lounge are Prayer Boxes provided by the Congregational Care Ministry. Please place a request form in the box, email Chuck at: ccurtis@fpcsb.org or call 687-0754 x102. Requests are kept confidential.
