Peter's Message

Very Dear Friends –

First things first: God is good and people are safe. Many in our congregation have evacuated their homes and are staying with friends and fellow parishioners. Once again, the blessing of hospitality!

Obviously today, Friday, is a critical day for the firefighters. May God’s strength, grace, and love be poured out on them as they work to protect us all.

Here’s the latest.

Unless circumstances change, we’ll proceed with worship on Sunday, May 10, as usual – 8:30, 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. We want to be together as a community of faith, to pray together, and to praise God for the amazing effort going into fighting these fires.

  • We’ll have up-to-date information on the church voice mail (687-0754) and website (fpcsb.org).
  • Otherwise the church is closed as it is in a mandatory evacuation area.
  • The SB Police have told me that while worshippers may not be able to drive into the church parking lot on Sunday (barricades at the corner of State and Constance) – and I am currently waiting for a call from a command center officer on this point – they can at least walk in. I’ll let you know about this asap.
  • If you can offer a room to evacuees, please let us know – or if you need a room, let us know. Diana Hopkins, Interim Pastor at Summerland, also has parishioners wanting to provide hospitality.
  • My cell is 886-5595 should you need to contact me (We were evacuated and are staying with the Willoughbys – thank you Bert and Geri!!). Judith’s (and Dave’s)  home # is 563-8988; Judith’s cell is 570-9893.

May God bless you and keep you.
    In Christ,
    Peter
