Nancy Williams Organizes Carnival Nancy Williams is getting a reputation as the FPC Party Girl. She is fabulous at planning our celebrations and works hard to get people involved in all aspects of the events. Here she is “Building a Bridge” for our Carnival to be held on Sunday, May 17 from 11AM to 1PM at the church. ![]() |
LIFE OF THE CHURCH Sharon Troll, Parish Nurse will be with us this Sunday. THE FLOWERS this last Sunday (May 10) were dedicated by Margaret Brown in loving memory of her mother. The Flowers were also dedicated by Jason and Kristen Dittman in honor of their mothers, Dorinda Dittman and Vivian Cheeseman The dedication was left out due to technical difficulties in the office. THE FLOWERS this morning are dedicated by John and Marge (Whitehouse) Gould in celebration of their wedding yesterday, May 16. Following the service the Deacons will take the flowers to those who are unable to attend worship. SPREAD THE WORD - KIDNEY NEEDED! In 2002 church member Lea Williams was diagnosed with a rare disorder called Microscopic Polyangiitis, a disease that attacks the lungs and kidneys. Lea is currently on dialysis at tremendous cost in time, money and energy. You may be able to help her to live a normal life. Call Lea at 965-8510 to hear her story. Prayerfully consider donating a kidney. For more information on transplants call 800-292-9548 or visit: www.matchingdonors.com . GOOD NEWS FROM LITHUANIA. In her letter from the LCC University in Klaipeda, Jane Holslag writes the following, “…one student, a growing-more-earnest seeker, announced she was thinking of changing her minor to theology. Not wanting to hide my surprise but at the same time not wanting to overwhelm her, I casually responded, ‘Oh? What would make you do that?’ She answered, ‘Well, I’ve never read the Bible before, but this is a fascinating book. It’s so interesting. I like it!’ She is at the top of the class, and is, I think, opening this ‘text’ for the first time in her life. She is also being opened by the truth and grace it contains.” CHANGING FOUNDATIONS is a Reader’s Theatre play, written by Ann Braithwaite, that follows the progress of the First Presbyterian Church through all four of our building sites to the present site on Constance Avenue. Actors perform with script in hand. There is a Fashion Show, a play within a play of fashions from Corset to Girdle depicting changes in society reflected in dress during the past 140 years. The play will be performed on June 21 st at our 140 th Anniversary Celebration. If you hav e any period clothing to lend, we would greatly appreciate it. If you have feathers, odd jewelry, long skirts or any other materials going to and through 140 years, please, help us. Ann Braithwaite, 745-5533 THE PRAYER CHAIN is available to pray for your needs.
