Church Carnival Celebrates “Building a Bridge to Our Future”
On Sunday, May 17, our church put on a carnival with "something for everyone." Some bounced, some played bingo, some had faces painted, some won prizes throwing baskets or bowling, and ALL ATE. Thanks to Nancy Williams and all of the helpers who made this such a success. As a little note, when Nancy evacuated her home, she put all of the carnival props into her van so they wouldn't be burned. Now, that's commitment! See a gallery of photos besides the ones below.

“Transformation” An Intimate Art & Writing Academy
July 6 - 10, 2009 - 9 am – 3:30 pm
Created by January Academy 2009 artist Julia Smith
Artists Lynne Farrow and Lee Hodges, and writer Sharron Luft would like to invite you to join us for an exciting time of exploring our personal faith stories through word and image. There will be guided exercises in putting our spiritual autobiographies into words. Then we’ll translate our words into images as we spend the week learning Lynne’s transformational and Lee’s acrylic collage processes. These include creating meaning and metaphor through painting and stamping collage papers, exploring different stamp making and embossing techniques, and experiencing the magic of photo transfers. Each day’s art making will build on the prior day’s activity so that at week end each person will have completed at least one 11 x 14 acrylic collage.
