Having come to faith in Christ and of God’s love in my late teens through the ministries of Glendale Presbyterian Church, Hollywood Presbyterian Church and Forest Home Conference Center, I continued to grow in this faith at Whitworh College in Spokane, WA. (B.A.) I enjoyed many years in teaching and leadership in the Church while raising our family. Later in life I went to Fuller Theological Seminary and graduated with a M.A. in Theology. (Christian Formation and Discipleship). I then served as Director of Small Groups at Community Presbyterian Church in Ventura, CA and as Director of Adult Education at El Montecito Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara. After this I went San Francisco Theological Seminary and completed studies there for a Master of Divinity. |
| Along the way I received training from Stillpoint: the center for Christian spirituality here in Santa Barbara and became a Spiritual Director. Most recently in my life I have been ordained to a position here at First Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara as Associate Pastor for the Spiritual Disciplines. Here I enjoy teaching and training in all of inward and outward Spiritual practices. These disciplines range all the way from prayer and meditation to stewardship and compassionate outreach in our community and world. I live with deep awareness of God’s over-flowing grace and goodness! |  |
I am married to Jim Shelton who served many years in the ministry of Young Life. Together we have a blend of seven children and 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. We spend a lot of our time at the local ball fields watching their games! My own physical activity has come down to the point of walking as much as possible. And, I love to paint and draw whenever I can!
