Music Ministries

"I am not satisfied with those who despise music, as all fanatics do; for music is an endowment and a gift of God, not a gift of other persons. It drives away the devil and makes people cheerful; one forgets all anger, unchasteness, pride, and other vices. I place music next to theology and give it the highest praise."
Samuel Taylor-Coleridge
"Music is a strange thing. I would almost say it is a miracle. For it stands halfway between thought and phenomenon, between spirit and matter."
Heinrich Heine
"Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without."
Confucius
"Conductors must give unmistakable and suggestive signals to the orchestra, not choreography to the audience."
George Szell
"The basic difference between classical music and jazz is that in the former the music is always graver than its performance - whereas the way jazz is performed is always more important than what is being played."
Andre Previn

Organs

We are blessed to have the largest organ between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The Sanctuary Organ has 5 keyboards. 57 ranks of pipes are from Casavant (1973). 12 additional electronic ranks, and the console are from Johannus (2000).  The Chapel Organ, entirely electronic, is a Rembrandt from Johannus.
